How SpiceRouter Works
A GL.iNet Flint 2 router, set up and managed by SpiceRouter, that you run from the SpiceRouter app, and pause, schedule or check on by asking your AI app.
Simple enough for a household, and useful for a small business: separate networks, DNS filtering for every device, family controls, and every change your AI app proposes approved by you.
Your router: the GL.iNet Flint 2
SpiceRouter runs on the GL.iNet Flint 2 with GL.iNet's own firmware. SpiceRouter sets it up and manages it, and nothing asks you to flash anything.
Your router keeps working without a plan: routing, Wi-Fi and DNS filtering run on the router itself. The app's account features need a plan.
Use the app, or just ask
With Home or Business, the SpiceRouter app shows your router's status and lets you change your Wi-Fi names and passwords, profiles, pauses and schedules.
Add the AI Connector and you can pause and schedule each person's devices, give them one more hour, run routines and see who's online by asking Claude, ChatGPT or any AI chat app that supports connectors. On Business it can switch Guest Wi-Fi on and off too. Nothing your AI app asks for changes until you approve it in the SpiceRouter app.

SpiceRouter writes out every step of the change in plain English before anything happens. Your AI app can't approve it for you.

Approve or reject it in the SpiceRouter app. Then tell your AI app to go ahead, and your router picks the change up within about a minute.
Your own DNS filter, built in
Every SpiceRouter runs its own DNS filter — AdGuard Home — directly on the router. Every DNS lookup from every device on your network is checked there: ad, tracker and cryptomining domains are blocked before they load. Allowed lookups go on to a public DNS resolver.
Home adds Wi-Fi management, family profiles, and pauses and screen-time schedules for each person's devices.
Business adds a separate Business Wi-Fi network on its own VLAN, isolated from your home network, and Guest Wi-Fi for visitors. Every router also has a shared Peripherals/IoT network for printers, Sonos, and smart home devices; mDNS relay makes them discoverable from your other networks — so your printer works from any room, on any SSID.
See what's happening on your network
The app shows your router's status, the devices connected to it, bandwidth, Wi-Fi health and how many lookups DNS filtering blocked. Cut any device off from the app, and let it back on just as easily; SpiceRouter never cuts a device off on its own.
Your router sends its status, including the list of connected devices, to your SpiceRouter account every minute so the app can show it.
Grow into Business
When you need it, Business adds a separate Business network, Guest Wi-Fi for visitors and up to 10 routers. On Business, your AI app can switch Guest Wi-Fi on and off for you, too.
